INTERNSHIPS

As a member of the Sexual Violence Commission, we aim to research the effectiveness of current campus protocol and resources in order to improve university sexual assault policies and procedures. As the working group lead for survivor support, I am currently heading projects which expand resources available to survivors and improve awareness across campus in order to facilitate a culture of consent and safety. We maintain weekly team meetings and periodically meet with UC Berkeley faculty to ensure projects are in compliance with university policy. I also collaborate with other group leads on overlapping aspects of projects. We receive valuable insight and training through workshops such as Consent Under the Influence, Consent and Boundaries, etc. sponsored by PATH to Care. Group and individual outreach projects play a critical role in ongoing assessments.

Legal Office- Associated Students University of California

As a legal intern Fall 2018 and Legal Office Associate Spring 2019 in the External Affairs Department, I assist in conducting research on student fees, university policy, and other topics of interest in order to facilitate the function of ASUC as a student government at UC Berkeley, independent of the university. Legal interns and associates have the valuable opportunity to gain knowledge of the American legal system, California law, and ASUC’s governing documents. As a special interest project, I am researching campus statistics on sexual assault and creating an info-graphic with the most useful data and resources for sexual assault victims and predators. This work compliments my commitment as president of RAPrEvention, a registered student organization at UC Berkeley, as well as my work with Rape-aXe based in China.

Dahlia Consulting Group Ltd.-Summer Internship 2018

Dahlia Consulting Group Ltd., a pharmaceutical and biologics consulting firm, was on assignment in the Netherlands through Kite Pharma, a Gilead Company, for the successful European launch of YESCARTA®, a treatment for non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. As a personal assistant to the company’s president I maintained her calendar, coordinated appointments, scheduled reservations, arranged flights, drivers and pick-ups, etc.. I attended company meetings, took minutes, gained valuable insight into the inner workings of an international consulting group, and learned how to adapt and predict president’s needs. Four day work weeks allowed for 3 day weekends of traveling and exploring the Netherlands and France. As a pre-law student with a focus on human rights, I was able to explore a country where the expression of human rights verges on exploitation. With this unfastened freedom came beauty found in refugee art where imminent messages are driven by politics and humanity as I witnessed firsthand through Iranian street artists Icy and Sot at MOCO, Amsterdam. I felt an undeniable connection to my father’s experience as an Iranian refugee growing up in the late 1970’s through today.
